
Getting to Know Roundtable: Bill Cunneen

This week, we sat down with Roundtable’s Bill Cunneen to talk about his role, learning & development (L&D), and industry trends he finds interesting.
What does your title mean? What do you do for Roundtable?
As the Manager of the Business Development Team, I lead the inside sales team at Roundtable. Along with coaching and creating cadences and templates, I’m also in the trenches with my team and reach out to prospective clients to support our Account Executive team.
How did you get into L&D?
I’ve always felt that continuing education is vital to personal and professional growth, and after seeing the impactful work the team here at Roundtable was doing, I was instantly drawn in.
What is a trend in L&D that’s exciting to you?
They say that technology doubles every two years, so the continued innovative approach organizations will take toward training is exciting, especially as technology like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) improves and changes.
What would you say is the most important part of building a training program?
I would say the most important part of building a training program is to first identify the needs, then to align those needs to organizational goals.

… having a solid foundation and learning culture leads to an environment where employees can upskill and improve professionally. In doing so, organizations create more efficient and highly skilled employees, which leads to a successful business.
What is something you have done in this role this year that you are proud of?
Recently, I was able to see an associate of mine receive a promotion into an Account Executive role and he recently closed on his first deal. I felt very proud when I saw him succeed in his role and continually grow.
What are some interesting facts about you?
-I have both jumped out of and flown a plane before.
-I am a twin born on Christmas day.
