The Challenge: Complex Machinery, Limited Training Options
Superior Beverage implemented Vertique—a robotic warehouse system that revolutionized their beverage distribution. The problem? Only managers received training directly from Vertique, leaving warehouse associates to learn through time-intensive, one-on-one shadowing.
Superior Beverage implemented Vertique—a robotic warehouse system that revolutionized their beverage distribution. The problem? Only managers received training directly from Vertique, leaving warehouse associates to learn through time-intensive, one-on-one shadowing.
The training bottleneck:
- Four different stations required specialized knowledge
- Associates could only train for one role at a time
- Cross-training was virtually impossible
- Employees felt stuck in a single position with no mobility
The cost: When someone called in sick, operations stalled. Other associates couldn’t fill in because they’d never been trained on those stations. Employee retention suffered as workers felt pigeonholed into repetitive roles with no path forward.
Since our implementation of the learning videos, we have reduced the time to floor with our associates. They are better trained in the different areas of Vertique and have created a more nimble workforce, allowing flexibility in specific job skilled areas.
- Stacey Edwards, Superior Beverage
The Solution: Video Learning + VR for Risk-Free Practice
We created a blended training program that gave every warehouse associate access to comprehensive Vertique training—without pulling experienced workers off the floor.
The training program:
Working with Superior’s SMEs, we filmed the entire Vertique system in action, capturing each station’s workflow from start to finish. The videos showed not just how the machinery worked, but the exact requirements and expectations for each role.
We then built these videos into measurable eLearning courses that associates could complete at their own pace. To give new hires hands-on practice before stepping onto the warehouse floor, we added a VR experience where they could pick up cases, stack pallets, and get comfortable with the physical movements—all in a safe, virtual environment.
What this meant for associates:
- Learn all four stations, not just one
- Practice in VR before touching real equipment
- Train on their schedule without waiting for senior staff availability
- Build confidence before stepping onto a live warehouse floor

The Results: 50% Reduction in Workers' Comp Claims
Time to proficiency: 33% faster
New hires reached full productivity on the warehouse floor in a third less time than before.
Training costs: 12.5% lower
Superior reduced the cost of onboarding without sacrificing quality.
Production output: 10% increase
A more nimble workforce meant smoother operations and fewer bottlenecks.
Workers’ compensation claims: Cut in half
Better-trained associates made fewer mistakes and got hurt less often.
Why it worked:
Superior didn’t just digitize their old training—they redesigned it entirely. Instead of one-on-one shadowing that took weeks and left knowledge gaps, they created a repeatable system that ensured every employee got the same high-quality training.
The video learning gave associates foundational knowledge and context. The VR practice built muscle memory and confidence. And the measurable eLearning courses let managers track progress and identify anyone who needed extra support.
The result: a warehouse team that’s better trained, more confident, and significantly safer.
